Arrival: Pre-trek Briefing
If you have opted for the optional airport transfers, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi.
Pre-trek briefing at your Moshi hotel. You should be planning to arrive at least one day before the start of the trek. Today we will spend in having a pre-trek briefing. We will also review your equipment and rent any equipment which is needed.
Your day begins with a drive to Marangu, where you’ll explore the historic Chagga caves. Your guide will share stories of how the caves were used for protection during tribal conflicts. Next, visit a local Chagga home, where you’ll learn about their daily life and traditions. Participate in activities like cooking a traditional meal or weaving baskets. After lunch, take a leisurely walk through banana and coffee plantations, learning about the crops that sustain the local economy. The day ends with a drive back to Arusha or Moshi, filled with newfound appreciation for Chagga culture.
